The course covers first the basic concepts in electrical engineering such as voltage, current, power, single- and 3-phase systems, and electromagnetics. It will be then followed by study of vital equipment such as transformers and generators. The students will also use per-unit analysis to study the impact of renewable generators on the power system. A brief discussion about electrical parts of wind turbines and some case studies will be also provided at the end.
The syllabus is the following:
1. Review of RLC components 2. Fundamental of DC circuits 3. Single-phase AC circuit analysis 4. 3-phase AC circuit analysis 5. Magnetism 6. Transformers 7. Induction machines 8. Per-unit and fault studies 9. A review on wind turbines (electrical parts)
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
