This course focuses on the practical application of nutritional principles to enhance athlete and non-athlete performance and overall health. Students will learn to elicit and assess relevant information to formulate tailored recommendations regarding nutrient requirements and client status, ensuring that advice is both effective and aligned with individual goals.
The course emphasizes a "food first" philosophy, prioritizing whole foods to meet nutritional needs while recognizing the appropriate use of targeted supplementation when necessary. Students will also explore the psychosocial dimensions of client interactions, appreciating their ambitions, values, beliefs, motivations, and concerns.
The course aims for students to be able to support effective client engagement, equipping students with the tools needed to foster sustainable nutritional practices. If student fails the course (overall course grade of E1 or less) student will be given an opportunity for a resit, the resit does not cover individual assignments it will assess student’s understanding of the learning outcomes of the course. The method of resit for this course will be oral exam lasting approximately 30 minutes. |
