This course covers the basic principles behind appraising literature and undertaking research in order to assess and develop an evidence base for special care dentistry.

It is an essential component as it allows the student to develop an understanding of the literature and any research around special care dentistry as well as providing the tools to undertake their own research project.
The student will be able to critically review relevant literature in order to assess evidence on which to base clinical decision making and health promotion activities.
They will demonstrate the ability to frame a suitable research question and develop a project taking in to consideration ethics and potential implications of the research project.
