Course Overview

The students are required to undertake a significant research project in small groups on a topic which will be relevant to industry. Students are expected to submit a group report of approximately 20,000 words.

This module builds on the certificate phase and aims to enhance the students’ understanding and knowledge of the many disciplines that comprise project. 

The students are required to co-ordinate their effort and contributions from each member of their small team.

Course Description

The students will be required to work in small groups of four to six, to brain-storm topics relevant to their own work and to the industry in general. Once they have obtained the approval of their tutor, they will be required to carry out a detailed literature search and subsequently an original investigation by using questionnaires, or other means to obtain data from industry for further analysis.  They will need to draw meaningful conclusions and finally submit their findings as a report of approximately 20,000 words.

The students will need to use and demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of the many disciplines that comprise project management, and build on the foundations laid during the certificate phase of the programme.  

This course will lay the foundation and prepare the students to undertake their individual dissertation in their final year of the MSc course.

Summative Assessments

Written Project (100%).

Resit: The re-sit will comprise of re-doing the failed element/s (exam and/or coursework assessment/s) from the 1st attempt with a maximum CGS mark of D3. The marks for other elements (successfully passed) will be carried over. Resit mark of either RP or RF will be recorded.

Formative Assessment

There are no assessments for this course.

The students will have access to a supervisor who will be able to provide feedback on the work being undertaken by the students.
