Course Overview

This course introduces students to what is involved in undertaking business research in practice. Within lectures, tutorials and workshops students will develop an understanding of: Information retrieval and critical analysis; Philosophical issues in the construction of knowledge; Accessing and gathering quantitative and qualitative data; Data analysis; Student/Supervisor expectations.

Course Description

Students will undertake sessions in: - Information retrieval - Critical analysis - Planning - Accessing and gathering quantitative and qualitative data - Data analysis - Ethical considerations - Student/Supervisor expectations (Students are expected to have participated in an Avoiding Plagiarism workshop prior to undertaking this course.)

Summative Assessments

1st attempt:

Group presentation with annotated slides (30%)

Individual assignment: illustrated coding framework (2000 words) (70%)

 

Resit: Resubmission for students who failed the entire module: 100% resubmission of a single individual assignement
