BU50F1: ACCOUNTING FOR FINANCE (2017-2018)

Last modified: 27 Feb 2018 19:02

Course Overview

Students will gain an understanding of what financial information is for and the influence of governments, stock exchanges and other institutions on sets of accounts. Students will explore financial accounting assumptions and conventions, developing technical knowledge and skills to enable recording of business transactions and preparing financial statements. Annual reporting is words as well as numbers and we will consider this as we introduce financial statement analysis and calculation of key metrics. This will allow exploration of how accounting information is used by stock market participants and the impact on users of current issues in accounting practice, governance and standards.
