Course Overview

This course is aimed at those wishing to secure Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), or those who wish to practise as an arbitrator, whether through the CIArb route or not. It is an intensive, online four week course on how to write an award. The course carries a separate fee and is not a component part of the LLM programme. However, it may be attractive to those on the programme, whether on the PgCert International Arbitration or the LLM Arbitration route.

Course Description

Students will require to learn how to write an arbitral award (judgement) such that it is clear, enforceable and well-reasoned. The course will cover the formal validity of awards, reasons, findings in fact, assessing evidence, enforceability and avoiding challenge.

Summative Assessments

Exam 100%.

Students may resit the assessment, as directed by the course co-ordinator, where non-submission or failure is due to good cause.

Where no good cause exists, students may resit the examination as directed by the course co-ordinator.
