Course Overview

This course will be of interest to anyone who wishes to develop a Web presence. It will cover several of the fundamental technologies associated with the Web and will give you the opportunity to build an interactive Website with the knowledge gleaned. In addition to developing critical knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts associated with good Web design and Website management and accessibility, you will enhance your understanding of core technologies including XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM and PHP.

Course Description

The design of Web sites is discussed and students are given opportunities to critique existing Web sites and design their own sites. The course will cover the following technologies: XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Summative Assessments

1 two-hour written examination (75%); continuous assessment (25%).

Resit: Where a student fails the course overall they will be afforded the opportunity to resit those parts of the course that they failed. 1 two-hour written examination (75%) and continuous assessment mark (25%) where the mark for the passed part is carried forward.
