A series of lectures, tutorials and a workshop delivered by currently research active staff. Topics concern cutting edge areas of immunology research and how these relate to the development of disease.

Course Description

Aims

  1. to introduce students to a research driven teaching and learning environment that is intellectually stimulating and challenging
  2. to encourage the development of independent critical powers
  3. to encourage the development of personal and transferable skills to equip students for career situations either in a research environment or other working environment

 

Learning outcomes

 At the end of this course students should be familiar with the following:

·          An appreciation of the cellular and molecular mechanisms currently at the forefront of research into immune processes in health and disease

·         The ability to critically appraise the scientific research literature

·         The acquisition of self-directed learning skills

·         Be equipped with critical and analytical skills required for further studies in specialised areas of immunological or related research

  • An ability to apply knowledge gained to the solution of practical and theoretical problems, and to communicate these effectively in group situations
