Course Overview

This course introduces students to the relationship between governance and petroleum (and indeed other natural resource) developments in individual states. It aims to aid understanding of the extent to which the presence of natural resources can lead to governance problems, and the extent to which governance problems are exacerbated by the presence of natural resources. Teaching and instruction will be by a variety of methods including podcasts, core readings, and interactive discussion. Topics include: The Relationship between Natural Resources and Governance, The Resource Curse, Good Governance in Petroleum Development, Transparency, Local Content, and the Governance of Petroleum Resources Across International Boundaries This course is available to students registering for the Online LLM Oil and Gas Law programmes (Dissertation or Professional Skills).
