Course Overview

This module invites childhood practitioners to critically examine the leadership approaches currently used within their settings and consider how these influence the child’s environment. Through reflective practice, students will identify areas for improvement and implement a small, purposeful change to enhance their setting based on these insights. Learning will be grounded in relevant policy, research, and guidance documents, with a strong emphasis on personal reflection and the development of leadership skills to positively shape the learning environment.

Course Description

This course supports practitioners in exploring and enhancing their leadership practice within early years or educational settings. Through critical reflection on current leadership styles and their influence on the child’s environment, students will identify and implement a small, meaningful change to improve practice. The course is grounded in contemporary policy, research, and guidance, encouraging students to connect theory with practice while developing their leadership capacity.

Assessment for this module will involve students communicating their reflective journey, the rationale behind their chosen adaptation, and the impact of their leadership on the child’s environment.
