Course Overview

With growing interest in mental health awareness, the ability to identify and differentiate core mental health presentations is a fundamental component of a valuable mental health skill set. This course will focus on a range of core mental health presentations which will enhance your theoretical and critical understanding of mental health problems. Using multimedia clips and case examples will enable you to develop effective and confident communication regarding mental health presentations.

Course Description

Central to a broad understanding of mental health, this module will focus on classification of mental health presentations across a spectrum of severity, ranging from general wellbeing to severe and enduring mental health presentations. Students will consider how a range of mental health problems present, are identified and differentiated. Varied learning approaches with a particular focus on case examples will develop understanding and facilitate effective and confident communication regarding a wide range of mental health presentations. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on the impact of experiencing a range of mental health presentations to develop their reflective skills and awareness of the impact of mental health presentations for each individual and their wider network.
