Course Overview

This course, tailored to offer flexible study patterns and qualifications, offers a unique on-line postgraduate opportunity in the area of PPI for Health research. You will understand what PPI in research is and why PPI is important. The course will provide insight on different ways the patients and the public can be involved in research, the challenges and solutions of undertaking different approaches and will be presented with case studies to demonstrate good practice. Working closely with HSRU academic experts in patient and public involvement, you will develop current knowledge and professional skills to enhance your careers within health research.

Course Description

This course introduces approaches to patient and public involvement (PPI) in health research. Patient and public involvement means working with patients and members of the public as colleagues, who draw on their experience of illness, treatment and taking part in trials to help us to improve our service and our research. The course highlights what PPI in research is and why PPI is important. The course provides insight on different ways the patients and the public can be involved in research, the challenges and solutions of undertaking different approaches and presents case studies to demonstrate good practice.
