Computer-based simulation offers an innovative way to combine theory with practice in geography, GIS/digital mapping, geology, oil and gas exploration, the marine and coastal sciences, environmental science, medicine, statistics and mathematics, as well as business applications. The course combines theory with the practical use of simulation software, R and Python languages for spatial simulation. OilSim software is used to illustrate the role of simulation in education and training for the oil and gas industry. Practical sessions with software tools and techniques, in a group learning environment, are used to apply theory and practice in a competitive problem-solving environment.

Resit: A resit is not normally available for this course.
A number of additional duly completed in-class assignments will be provided.
Students will receive feedback on coursework using Turnitin. Feedback on all assignments will be within two weeks.
