This course provides mathematical foundation of the probabilistic analysis of random variables. The course is an extension to the undergraduate level of the subject. This course is a pre-requisite for the module on Advanced Methods for Risk and Reliability Assessment.
The following modules will be covered in the course:
1. Revision of elementary concepts in statistics and probability.
2. Important uni-variate distributions.
3. The bi-variate and multi-variate normal distribution.
4. Parameter estimation and goodness-of-fit.
5. Analysis of statistical data.
6. Treatment of outliers.
7. Analysis of variance.
8. Introduction to continuous and discrete stochastic processes.
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
