The course aims to provide engineering students with an understanding of some of the issues that they will face, as ‘real world engineers.’

Course Description

Students will examine sustainability from the perspective of ensuring resources are available to future generations and from the perspective of avoiding damage to the environment including but not limited to climate change. Students are encouraged to consider the impact on engineering and how they as engineers can make a difference. Students will also study risk management as a tool for decision making and will examine issues such as corporate social responsibility and ethics both generally and from the perspective of a practicing engineer.


Students will study, and be given an opportunity to discuss security and equality, equity, diversity and inclusion including, but not limited to, protected characteristics.
