Prayer, Gaude virgo Margareta, continued.



The author recounts how in prison she drove off a monster by making the sign of the cross; how she was beaten but, comforted by a dove, scorned her harsh treatment [by the prefect of Antioch]; how she rejoiced when she was beheaded for her faith in Christ (GL, pp 351-4).

A prayer to Jesus Christ, asking that through the prayers and merits of St Margaret, we may join the company of angels.


Venerantes et dignam memoriam beate Mar\garete recolentes quesumus o domine Ihesu Christe ut per ipsius preces et me\rita te donante capiamus eterna angelorum consorcia.

A prayer to God, asking that by the intercession of St Margaret we should receive his comfort in times of need.


Deprecacionem nostram quesumus domine benignus in\tende precesque nostras clementer exaudi\ atque misericordiam tuam nobis largire ut in\tercessione sancte Margarete virginis et martiris\ tue ex quacumque necessitate ad te clamaverimus\ almiflua consolacionis tue beneficia consequa\mur. Per dominum nostrum Ihesum Christum filium tuum qui\ tecum vivit et regnat in unitate spiritus sancti\ deus per omnia secula seculorum. Amen.\
