Annual Academic Development Symposium 2015: Student Transitions

Annual Academic Development Symposium 2015: Student Transitions
-

This is a past event

The theme for this year's Symposium is Student Transitions. The Symposium topic complements the new QAA (Scotland) Enhancement Theme of the same name.

This topic will take a deliberately broad view of student transitions into, within and out of University, focussing on the various ways in which we support students through these key points in their academic journeys. The Symposium will take place in the morning of 29th April from 09:30 – 13:00, after which lunch will be provided. An afternoon programme of workshops will shift the focus away from students and on to Staff Transitions.

Our keynote presentation this year is entitled ‘Are students prepared for navigating transitions in HE?’ and will be delivered by Professor Veronica Bamber, Chair of the Student Transitions Enhancement Theme and Director of the Centre for Academic Practice at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. We will also hear from Dr Deborah O’Neil, Chief Executive and Scientific Officer from NovaBiotics Ltd. who will provide an employer’s perspective on the topic of student transitions.
