Swedish is the most spoken of all the Scandinavian languages, and is often listed as one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn. The country of Sweden is one of the largest countries in Europe (although sparsely populated) and also one of the most innovative, from dynamite to Minecraft. There are currently four undergraduate courses in beginners Swedish at first and second year. The teaching is largely interactive, with a friendly atmosphere, and you will start using the language from day one. While language is the main focus, you will also learn about some of the culture in Sweden. Teaching focuses on encouraging independent expression aiming to make students comfortable with expressing themselves in Swedish.
Whether students are curious about Swedish industry, music, literature, film, sports, politics, lifestyle and Vikings, or they just want to learn a less common language, our courses will help students acquire a unique skill while broadening their horizons. The Swedish courses are also a good preperation for those students wishing to go on an Erasmus exchange, pursue further studies or work in a Scandinavian country.
