Research Culture Task & Finish Group

Research Culture Task & Finish Group

This short-term working group was established in 2020 by the Research Policy Committee, with a remit to identify the existing work that has already been undertaken by the University to enhance our research culture, to identify where any gaps exist, and to propose a wider range of measures to address these issues, and to promote these to both internal and external audiences. The work of the group demonstrates the University’s commitment to a positive working environment for researchers and support for a positive research culture.

The work of the group concluded in May 2022 following the submission of a report to the University Senate. The report proposed 22 recommendations on the key themes of developing research careers, improving the experience of working in research, supporting inclusive and respectful environments, and changing how we do research.  The recommendations were made with the aim of making this University a place that researchers want to come and do their research, to develop their skills and to contribute to the ongoing success of the University.

The report was endorsed by University Senate and an implementation group has been established to operationalise these recommendations.

Updates on the work of the implementation group will be published here in due course.
