'Ius Commune Argumentation in Calvin's Case'

Professor David Ibbetson from the University of Cambridge will speak on, 'Ius Commune Argumentation in Calvin’s Case', as part of the Law School's research seminar series 2013-14.

Calvin’s Case (1608) concerned the question of whether or not Scots born in Scotland after the Union of the Crowns in 1603 were to benefit from the protection of the English common law as subjects of the King of England (the case was raised in the name of a Scot born in 1605 who asserted title to land in England).
