    Welcome to the School of Law at the University of Aberdeen, one of the four “ancient” universities of Scotland, with law being taught here since 1495. We are located on the Old Aberdeen campus within in the Taylor Building, which also houses the Taylor (Law) Library.

    The Law School offers a wide variety of LLB degrees, plus an accelerated degree for graduates and a varied Graduate programme including a Diploma in Legal and Professional Practice. There is an annual Summer School run with Baltimore and Maryland Universities, USA. Trainee CPD was launched in September 2012 and other CPD activities are regularly provided by Law School staff.

    In the Times Good University Guide 2013, the Law School is ranked 11th in the UK out of more than 90 law schools, in the top 5 for graduate prospects and in the top 10 for student satisfaction.

    In National Student Satisfaction Surveys, Law at the University of Aberdeen has consistently scored very highly, with satisfaction rates of over 90%.

    The University of Aberdeen is a research-led institution and the Law School is committed to producing research of the highest quality across a range of subjects.     The Law School has around 40 academic staff, 850 LLB undergraduates, 240 taught postgraduate students made up of: 180 LLM and 60 Diploma in Professional and Legal Practice and 40 postgraduate research students).
