Following on from the Offshore Europe conference, this session will explore the tools and techniques used to develop future scenarios.

Using the Energy sector as a case study, participants will be guided in methods for developing business scenarios. As an input to the workshop participants will hear from a panel of invited experts from across the oil and gas supply chain.

The workshop will be delivered by Rulzion Rattray (pronounced Rullion)

Rulzion is the Director of the Oil & Gas Academy of Scotland, which provides access to  comprehensive range of skills, education and training for the oil and gas and wider energy sector in Scotland and Internationally.

Rulzion has been interested and involved in scenario planning for a number of years and has worked with a wide range of organisations in the Scenario Creation Process, including:

The UK Cabinet Office, Shell, ICL Fujitsu, Trak Europe, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) - “The International Oil & Gas Risks & Challenges - creating forward looking perspectives for the Nigerian Petroleum Industry (Dec 2012 – Dubai).

What the Workshop will involve:

The day will involve you in an interactive series of activities that will develop your understanding of the Scenario Creation Process and the process of using this as a playground to test ideas, strategies and plans.

Introduction:

The day will start with an over view and discussion of the scenario creation process and background and introduce the basic scenario creation process tools. Delegates will then be split into groups each of which will begin the process of scenario creation.

Stage one developing the Scenario Content.

An important aspect of scenario creation is to ensure that each scenario is populated with credible and convincing stories as to how the future might unfold. In order to facilitate this, an expert panel of individuals will give you some insights into some of the challenges facing the Energy Sector.

Stage two creating the scenarios

You will be involved in developing the Scenario content using well tested processes

Stage three telling the scenario stories                                                                                    

The day will finish with each group telling their Scenario Story
