The University is honoured that the inaugural speaker for the Lecture will be His Excellency, Matthew Barzun, United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The Ambassador will deliver a lecture entitled 'Leadership and Partnership: America's approach to Foreign Policy'. Matthew Barzun graduated Magna Cum Laude with an AB in History and Literature from Harvard College and has gone on to have a diverse and inspiring career.Ambassador Barzun is an internet pioneer who was the fourth employee at CNET Networks, where he worked from 1993-2004 and served in a multitude of roles including Executive Vice President.  After leaving CNET, Matthew Barzun invested in a variety of start-up internet companies including MedTrackAlert, a prescription medication information delivery system and JiWire, an advertising network for wireless devices.It was in 2008 that Ambassador Barzun made a career move to politics by joining Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee before the President's election that year. In that capacity, he produced the first $25 per-person fundraiser and helped teach at Obama University for campaign volunteers. He re-joined this team as National Finance Chair for the re-election of President Obama in 2012. Ambassador Barzun previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden from 2009 to 2011 and assumed his post as U.S Ambassador to the United Kingdom on August 1st 2013.We look forward to welcoming you to this distinguished lecture as we know it will be an enjoyable and informative evening.
