The Rural Law Research Group is proud to announce its second Rural Law conference. It will explore sustainable rural development under the cross-cutting themes of sustainability, diversification and planning.

This conference will allow legal practitioners, academics, policy makers, landowners and managers to address the challenges facing the delivery of sustainable rural development in Scotland. It will do so against the backdrop of the first sustainable land use strategy for Scotland.

Conference Aims • Consider the opportunities and challenges facing the delivery of sustainable rural development in Scotland. • Examine the policy and legal developments affecting the cross-cutting themes: o sustainable land use and management o diversification o rural development planning • Look to the future of rural land use in Scotland, addressing key issues including: sustainable agriculture and ongoing reform of the CAP, crafting, and forestry; renewable energy; and sustainable access.

Who Should Attend? Members of the Scottish Parliament, local and central government officers, famers, legal practitioners, land managers, renewable energy organisations, national park boards, local councillors, organisations with an interest in access, academics, researchers, planners, environmental charities, community groups, and those interested in the economic and cultural development of Scotland.
