In Carol (2015, Todd Haynes, UK), Cate Blanchett plays Carol, an older woman in 1950s New York, going through a divorce. She enters into a forbidden love affair with a young photographer, played by Rooney Mara. Based on the groundbreaking 1952 romance novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, Carol was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where Mara tied for the Best Actress award.This film is certified 15. Running time 118 minutes.
