AFBE-UK Scotland is holding a seminar aimed at giving students and professionals an insight into commercial aspects of the oil and gas industry.

The Aberdeen-based not-for-profit group, which encourages young people of all backgrounds to consider enter the engineering sector, is holding the latest in its Real Projects programme.

The seminar will give an overview of project life cycles, focussing on the stages between engineering design and the completion of projects, giving those in attendance an insight into aspects including procurement, budgeting, allocation of resources and team management.

A key note presentation will be given by Emma Opara, a lawyer who began her career in general practice before moving into in-house opportunities in the commercial sector.

Dr Ollie Folayan, chair of AFBE-UK Scotland, said: “These seminars are vitally important as they give students an insight to developing issues in our industry as well the opportunity to add professionals to their network of contacts.”

Admission to the event is free, and refreshments will be available.
