Women in America, c.1900-40: from the Gilded Age to the Shadow of War

Join us for another fascinating online talk on Thursday 11 May from 4pm-5.15pm (BST) with Professor Bill Naphy during which he will look at the various issues driving the women's movements in the first half of the 20th century.

This talk will focus on how women organised themselves to lobby for their concerns.  Attaining the vote was the obvious priority but women were also active in trade unionism, child labour reform, civil rights, and Prohibition. This talk will try to place these, and other issues, alongside the suffrage and will look at the ways in which women of all political and social stripes (religious, progressive, conservative, socialist, communist) worked together and, occasionally, in opposition.

If you would like to join this event please email alumni@abdn.ac.uk as online registrations have now closed.

This event will also be recorded and shared afterwards.
