Host Supervisor

All students are expected to have both a local and host supervisor for their elective. Most students find a local supervisor who then may be able to put you in touch with contacts in your chosen location but in some instances you may already have a host supervisor in mind and be well on your way to planning your elective.

You will often find is easier to contact a host supervisor directly rather than through the institution who may only accept applications during a short time frame.

Your host supervisor is normally expected to be able to provide guidance on the elective process and in particular should be able to assist in any ethical considerations. It is your responsibility to ensure they are aware of what is expected of you for the programme and they will be asked to complete a brief form on how they felt your elective went. Many previous host supervisors are happy to take Aberdeen students so you may wish to look at the attached list to find some contact details.
