Wall pocket

Wall pockets of unsmoked caribou hide with floral designs worked in chain and button-hole stitch in coloured silk thread were popular decorative items in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many Cree and Métis women in northern Manitoba made these to sell at Hudson’s Bay Company stores.
