Prayer, O gloriosa regina.



A prayer to the Virgin Mary. The author asks for time to repent his sins in this world. He asks that through her intercession he may conduct himself virtuously until the time of his death, that she may come to his aid, deliver him from the power of darkness, the torments of hell and everlasting death, and lead him to eternal joy.


O gloriosa regina mundi o mun\di domina suscipe deprecacionem\ servi tui impetra michi spacium penitencie\ et veram penitenciam agere de peccatis meis in\ hoc seculo. Impetra michi piissima domina\ perseveranciam in bonis operibus usque in finem\ Impetra michi rectum sensum, rectamque memo\riam a domino nostro Ihesu Christo filio tuo in die obi\tus mei et in hora exitus mei tu piissima\ domina succurre michi et libera de potestate te\nebrarum et de penis inferni et a morte perpe\tua et perduc me ad gaudia sempiterna.\

A hymn to the Virgin Mary (see folio 270r HE, pp 63-4; see AH, 31, p 176), invoking her five joys; the verses are interspersed with the prayer, Ave Maria.
