Commemorations of the saints, continued.

Saint Christopher.

Hymn, Tu Ihesus es testis.

A hymn commemorating St Christopher (AH, 33, p 67). Where he is remembered, hunger, plague and unrighteous death will not hold sway. No man or beast, as Christ himself said, carried a greater burden. Whoever keeps and venerates St Christopher's image will not suffer a sudden death or a long illness; therefore one is to model one's life on him.

Tu Ihesus es testis ubi Christoforus\ memoratur,
Vix fames <famis> aut\ pestis mala mors ibi non do\minatur.

Non homo nec pe\cora qua <quaevis> subeunt graviora\
Sic <Hoc> dedit absque mora vox sic sibi Christus in ora <Christus sibi mortis in hora>.\

Christofori sancti speciem quacumque die revereris.
Certus\ habeto diem subito qua <quod> non morieris.

Christofori\ sancti speciem quicumque tuetur.
Illo nempe die nullo\ languore gravetur <tenetur>.

Pensa qui transis hinc <tu>\ Christoforus pius an sis.
Si non fac ut sis Christum <ipsum>\
