Research

Research Overview

Lorraine graduated with a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Aberdeen in November 2018. During her PhD Lorraine worked closely with and was supervised by Professor Jen Cleland (at that time: John Simpson Chair of Medical Education Research. Director, Centre for Healthcare Education Research and Innovation) and Professor Simon Kitto (Director of Research, Office of Continuing Professional Development, Department of Innovation in Medical Education, University of Ottawa, Canada). Lorraine has a background in qualitative research. She is interested in the challenges and unintended consequences of change, particularly the lived experiences of people (clinical staff, academic staff, students and patients) when exposed to a significant change or intervention. She also has a keen interest in the influence and impact of the hidden curriculum on learning experiences and in clinical environments.
