JSS0858	Page 1 of 2, Scott Skinner's Farewell to Scotland	This melody appears in the scrapbook of tunes and accompaniments that Skinner presented to Mrs Barclay of The Gordon Arms Hotel, Keith, after his bankruptcy. Skinner gave a 'farewell concert' in The Music Hall, Aberdeen in 1886 - he had planned to emigrate, probably as a result of his bankruptcy. 'Scott Skinner's Farewell to Scotland', later renamed 'Madge' was performed at that concert.

Skinner has noted: 'Topsy a faithful Doggie, foundation stone laid 8 April 1887. For Logie M.S.'
JSS0862	Huntly Castle, Bonny Nellie	These melodies appear in the scrapbook of tunes and accompaniments that Skinner presented to Mrs Barclay of The Gordon Arms Hotel, Keith, after his bankruptcy. Note how Skinner describes Huntly Castle as a 'Weird Strathspey'. He directs the performer to 'mirk richt' (mark right). He has insterted two bars near the end, about which he states: 'the introduction of these two bars is a departure from all other times hitherto pub.[lishes].' Note Skinner's reel, Bonny Nellie, which he has copied out in tiny handwriting and inserted at the foot of the page.
JSS0863	Words, She Noddit to Me	This poem relates to the delight of an old lady when Queen Victoria acknowledges her wave. This type of poem, written in Aberdeenshire dialect, and with popular appeal, is typical of the sort set to Skinner's music.
JSS0864	Page 1 of 2, She Noddit to Me	The first three verses of the poem, 'She Noddit to me' (JSS0863), were set to this music. The setting is for voice and piano accompaniment.
JSS0865	Page 2 of 2, She Noddit to Me	The fourth (last) verse of the poem, 'She Noddit to me' (JSS0863), was set to this music. The key has changed from the bright d major to the duller sound of D minor to reflect the sadness of the verse - the old lady is thinking of her dead son. The setting is for voice and piano accompaniment.
