Title:  Low Code IoT Middleware for Gait Velocity Monitoring at Home

Abstract:

Gait velocity has become a valid and important metric for senior populations. However, existing approaches to measure gait velocity are either limited to specific location or too expensive to be applied. IoT middleware allows the systems to collect data in a large space in a collaborative manner. However, it is a great challenge of integrating large numbers of low-cost devices to accomplish the task. This talk presents the challenges of middleware to support low-code programming. The system is built on top of WuKong middleware.

Bio:

Starting from Feb. 1, 2004, Dr. Chi-Sheng Shih has joined the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University. He currently serves as an Associate Professor. He received the B.S. in Engineering Science and M.S. in Computer Science from National Cheng Kung University in 1993 and 1995, respectively. In 2003, he received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His main research interests include embedded systems, hardware/software codesign, real-time systems, and database systems. Specifically, his main research interests focus on real-time operating systems, real-time scheduling theory, embedded software, and software/hardware co-design for system-on-a-chip. His research results won several awards including the Best Paper Award in 2016 IEEE International Symposium on Cloud and Service Computing, 2011 ACM Research in Applied Computation Symposium (RACS 2011), IEEE RTCSA 2005, and IEEE RTSS 2004. He also serves the Associate Editor of IET Cyber-Physical Systems: Theory and Applications and Springer Journal of Services-Oriented Computing and Applications (SOCA).
