Sharp, John Hall Davidson

Regiment: 5/7th battalion, The Gordon Highlanders

Biography: Son of the late George Gardiner Sharp and Louisa Elizabeth Sharp (nee Hall), banker, Banchory ; born Banchory, 1910 ; educated at Banchory Secondary and Aberdeen Grammar Schools. He graduated M.A. in 1931 and B.L. in 1937. He served his law apprenticeship with Messrs. Morice & Wilson, advocates, Aberdeen, continuing with the firm and being admitted to the Society of Advocates in 1938. He had been gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in the Gordon Highlanders, Territorial Army, in 1938, and was mobilized at the outbreak of war. He served with the 51st Division in North Africa, and was killed in action during the battle of El Alamein on 24 October 1942.
