Biography: Son of William Sangster, Ythanbank ; born Ythanbank, 1917; he spent a year at the University and had just completed the Planter's Course when he was called up. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1940 and was trained as a wireless operator and air-gunner. He lost his life on 28 December 1941 when his plane on a delivery flight to the Middle East crashed in the Mediterranean.
