Biography: Son of James and Ingrid Gusuva Porteous, Bo'ness ; born Bo'ness, 22 April 1924 ; educated at Bo'ness Academy. Entering the Royal Air Force in 1942, he attended a Cadets' course at the University. He saw a good deal of service, and then lost his life in an air accident in this country on 1 May 1945.
