Petrie, Kenneth Dunbar

Biography: Son of James Dunbar Petrie and Rachel Anerdeon Petrie, Cornhill Road, Aberdeen ; born Perth, 17 April 1920 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. He entered the University to take an Arts course. Called up in 1940, he joined the Royal Navy and after training was drafted to the Coastal Patrol Service in which he qualified as an Asdic Rating. For a time he served on patrol vessels in the Atlantic and was then transferred to H.M.S. Southern Flower based on Iceland. He lost his life when this ship was sunk in action on 3 March 1945.
