Biography: Son of A. P. O'Brien and Sussannah O'Brien, Harpenden, Herts ; born Appleton, Cheshire, 1923 ; educated at St. George's School, Harpenden. He joined the Army in 1942 and attended the R.A.C. course at the University. In 1944 he was serving in France with the Somerset Light Infantry, and on 27 August of that year died of wounds received in action when in charge of a patrol in the Foret de Vernon.
