Biography: Son of Andrew Dean and Norah Morrison, Perth Road, Crieff ; born Fossoway, Perth, 1921 ; educated at Morrison's Academy, Crieff. In 1938 he entered the University as an Arts student. He volunteered at the beginning of the war and was called up in 1940. Posted to the Black Watch he was commissioned in the following year and sent to the Middle East where he was attached to the 51st Division. He was killed in the Battle of Egypt on 1 November 1942.
