McIver, Norman Crichton

Biography: Son of Colin. J. and Mary McIver (nee Crichton), headmaster of Frederick Street School, Aberdeen ; born Stornoway, 18 January 1918 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. In 1939 he graduated M.A. with First Class Honours in Economics, winning a scholarship at Oxford and a Fullerton Scholarship from Aberdeen. When war broke out, he volunteered for the Royal Air Force. He was soon commissioned, and had only completed his training when on 22 March 1942 his plane was lost in operations near Ostend and he was presumed killed.
