Biography: Son of George William Hawley and Eileen Edith Hawley, Brancaster, Norfolk ; born South Africa, 9 February 1925 ; educated at Charterhouse. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1941 and then attended a Cadets' course at the University. After a spell of service he lost his life in a flying accident at Setif in North Africa on 9 July 1943.
