Goodbrand, Edward Hutcheon

Biography: Son of W. C. Goodbrand, formerly of Rubislaw Den North, Aberdeen ; born Aberdeen, 1923 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar and Strathallan Schools. He entered the University in 1940 to study Science. In 1940 he joined the Fleet Air Arm and was one of the pilots chosen to serve in the first M.A.C. ships, taking part in many of the Atlantic battles. He was then transferred to an aircraft carrier for Russian convoy work, and later escorted troops at the landings in France. Sent to the Far East to join an aircraft carrier, he was in many actions against the Japanese. On 25 June 1945 he lost his life as the result of a plane accident at sea.
