Biography: Son of Roderick Murray; born Stornoway, 2 March 1890. M.A., 1913. Joined North Scottish Royal Garrison Artillery; transferred. U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1909. Mobilized, August 1914. Commissioned, 4th Seaforth Highlanders, 18 December 1915. Served-Home, 1914-15; Belgium, February-September 1915; France, Belgium, April.-August 1917. Three times wounded. Final rank, Lieutenant.
