Biography: Son of John Murray; born New Pitsligo, 24 August 1883. M.A. (II English), 1907; Seafield Medal. Private, 14th Royal Scots, 17 July 1916. Commissioned, Royal Garrison Artillery, 1 April 1918. Home service, Army Instructor, 1916-18. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
