Mitchell, Peter Chalmers
Biography: Son of Alexander Mitchell; born Dunfermline, 23 November 1864. M.A. (II Ment.), 1884; Seafield English Medal; B.A. (1st cl. Nat. Sc), Oxon., 1888; M.A., 1893; D.Sc, 1901; F.R.S., 1906. Member of Directorate Military Intelligence, 31 March 1916; attached to War Office, London, with special duty to France, Holland, Channel and Scilly Islands, 1916-18. Liaison Officer, War Office; D.M.I, and British War Mission, 1918-19. Final rank, Staff-Captain. Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Military Division). Name brought twice to notice of Secretary of State for War.
