Biography: Son of James Mitchell; born Methlick, 28 June 1875. MA (II Classics, II Ment.), 1899; Diploma in Education, 1900. U Company, 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders Private, 6th Royal Scots, 5 January 1915. Served with 4th Battalion. Home, 1915-17. Final rank, Quarter Master-Sergeant.
