Biography: Son of John Mitchell, born Aberdeen, 16 July 1889. M.A. (1 Math.), 1911; B.Sc. (Spec, dist.), 1913; Boxill Prize. 2nd Lieutenant, 4th Cameron Highlanders, June 1915; attached to 2726th London Regiment. Served-France, Salonika, Egyptian Expeditionary Force, France, July 1916-1919. Final rank, Acting Captain. Military Cross.
