Biography: Son of John Mitchell; born Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire, 27 April 1899. Medicine, 1916-17, 1918-. A.U.O.T.C. Attested, March 1917; called up, 16 November 1917. Joined No. 3 Royal Field Artillery Cadet Officers School, Weedon. Served-November 1917-April 1918. Final rank, Cadet.
